Dreams do come true

Some people say that dreams never come true but in my mind you should never stop believing in yourself or your dreams. One day sooner or later that dream of yours will come true. Everyone has at least one dream and that one dream is like a special memory. In my mind we Narcolepsy people have a bit of a harder times trying to believe that dreams can come true. But other people might think differently because every dream takes a little or a lot effort to come true.

Falling Asleep

You know that feeling when you just start falling asleep, because I do? I fall asleep really easily, well probably because I've got Narcolepsy and that makes you very, very sleepy all the time. To tell you the truth I sometimes actually fall asleep in class shh don't tell anyone. I usually fall asleep in class when it's a boring subject mostly math but sometimes science and french class. But when it's a fun subject like ART and English it keeps me awake! Gym keeps me awake anyways even if I don't like it what we're going to do because I keep moving around and liking the subject Gym is just a bonus. Do you ever fall asleep when you're not supposed to because I kind of do, don't tell anyone?

Treatments for Narcolepsy

Unfortunately there is NO cure for Narcolepsy so that means once you get it there's no getting rid of it. I've had Narcolepsy for 5 or 6 whole years and I'm only 11 years old so I've practically gotten used to it. But you can't ignore the possibility that one day there could come out a cure for Narcolepsy but a cure doesn't completely stop Narcolepsy it just makes it easier to live with, I mean like you feel like you don't have it anymore but you still do. I'm not saying that a cure doesn't help Narcolepsy but I'm also saying it doesn't completely cure it either. Narcolepsy isn't as bad as some others medical conditions but it isn't the best either. If you have Narcolepsy you should be grateful that it's not anything worse. But for me in my opinion I would have had a better life then I'm having now but like I said once you gotten it there's no getting rid of it. I've lived with Narcolepsy for 5 or 6 whole years like I said but that doesn't mean that I was born with it, so I know what it's like to be completely normal and to have Narcolepsy so I kind of have both perspectives. I'm actually not sure if you can be born with Narcolepsy and or Cataplexy but I don't think you can. I hope someone out there will be able to find a cure for Narcolepsy one day. I hope that this has helped you understand Narcolepsy a bit better. Bye

Dangerous Situations

Dangerous situations can be much more dangerous for people with Narcolepsy and especially Cataplexy. I bet you're asking why is Dangerous situations much more dangerous for people with Narcolepsy and Cataplexy well that's why I'm here to tell you.

Some situations are more dangerous than others like driving a car is much more dangerous than falling and hurting yourself. I can't tell you which one is more dangerous because I'm only 11 years old so I haven't driven a car yet but I'm pretty sure that driving a car while sleeping is much more dangerous than falling down and hurting yourself but on the other hand falling is still a dangerous situation because if you fall from a high height it can be very dangerous but if you just fall down the stairs it's not more of an issue. But if you have Narcolepsy you can't let it keep you down ( do you get my pun) because you'll never enjoy the things you have in life. I've told you quite a few times that I'm 11 years old, right? Yep, so I'm 11 and not many people with Narcolepsy are kids it's mostly adults but that doesn't mean that there aren't any other kids with Narcolepsy and Cataplexy. I try my best to keep up my enthusiasm in my life and because I'm this young it's little tricky but I like I said I try my best. Remember it doesn't matter if you're young like me or older with Narcolepsy like some other people, you're right there aren't many people out there with Narcolepsy but if you just open your eyes and look around people with Narcolepsy can be all around you.

My Dad just left to go on a trip for work to Seattle!

So my dad just left to go to Seattle for 5 days because of a work thing, you know? Um anyways so I won't see him for 5 whole days can you believe that, I'm going to miss him so much just like everyone else in my family. What will we do when he's gone, I mean we'll be so board? Well, I know that I will miss him as much as everyone else in my family, well maybe except for my sister because she isn't very fond of my dad so I don't really know. This goes out to my Dad, I love you and care about you so much. I hope you'll come home sooner or later and give me a big hug and kiss. Bye, dad have fun!

Schools been going Good so far

School has been going very well so far, I think in one of my old posts I told you I was in a French immersion school right? I think so. Well just to catch you up I'm still in that french immersion school I was in 2 years ago. Wow it's been 2 years that I've been in this school. Oh I ment to ask you how is school going for you guys kids or potentially you guys adults but instead of school it's work. Anyways it's been so much fun. I think I have a new favourite day of the cycle! Oh by the way through Grade 4 & 5 I've had a favourite day of the cycle meaning that I love the layout of the day like having double art and gym and English that sort of thing. In Grade 4 my favourite day of the cycle was Day 8 because we had english and art and gym like I said I love those subjects more then any others. In greade 5 my favourite day of the cycle was Day 6 because we had english and double art at the end of the day, hint hint you guys throughout the years I'm in Elementary school my favourite days of the cycles will probably include English, Art and Gym. Anyways now currently in Grade 6 my new favourite day of  the cycle will from now on to the end of Grade 6 will be Day 10 because like I said it includes gym, English and my favourite subject Art!!!

We just lost a rat

Sadly we just put down a rat and her name was Echo! She was so sweet. I loved her so much, she was really big so I called her a special nickname it was "Fatty Patty" because she was big. She was a Silver Roan that means that she was beige at the beginning but then she started to fade out to white. She was so pretty too! We had to put her down on the first day of school which was really disappointing, I mean it's the first day of school you should come to school happy with good news but not me. We wanted to rest in peace and now she is. I will never forget you Echo my fatty patty. Go run free with Willow, Tawny and Suki. I love you, Bye.

My first day at school with my new phone

So my first day at school with my phone was great! Everybody loved it. I showed most people my phone today! My phone is AWESOME I mean to me, sorry I don't mean to brag. It's got an Otter Box case on right now because it is one of the 12 cases that came with it. The Otter box case is pink, as the hard part and white, as the squishy part where my phone sits in! I'm actually writing this from my IPhone! I LOVE MY PHONE SO MUCH! I'd like to say thank-you to the 2 people who let me get a phone that is drum roll please, My Mom and Dad😀!!! Whoooo yay! Hip Hip Horray!!! And the crowd goes wild!!! 3 cheers for my Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad, Mom and Dad, Mom and Dad!!! I Thank you again, bye I love you two so much right now!!! New Phone

I got a new phone yesterday night. It's an IPhone 5s and it's white and silver meaning it's silver on the sides and back and white on the front. The IPhone 5s and anything higher has the fingerprint on it but anything from the IPhone 5c and lower doesn't have it. I'm so excited to bring it to school tomorrow. Bye, Yay

The Best Day!

I had my birthday a few days ago on Friday and on Saturday, My whole family came for a Party to celebrate my birthday. On Friday I got Magic Puffy Pens from my sister, a Pandora charm, a USB stick, a puzzle, and a doodle idea book from my Mom and Dad. I also got a Star Trek Coin from my brother too. On Saturday I got a portable puzzle, an owl ice pack, a few hair things, and a huge colouring book from my grandparents. I got another Pandora charm from my Other grandma, a pack of lifesavers and 20 bucks. I also got pastels, 50 bucks and another puzzle from my Uncle Ivor and Auntie Karen. I got a Chocolate Pen from my Uncle Mike and Auntie Jen and their 2 boys. I got 40 bucks from my Uncle Denis and Auntie Debbie, Melanie and Jennifer too. On Friday I had subs for supper and cake for dessert. On Friday I also went to a cooking class.

I would like to say thank-you for all the gifts and the hard work my mom and dad put into my Party.

The Other Morning

Guess what happened the other morning? Well we had our rats out Cali, Harley and Echo so Cali had so much energy and was really curious not that she's not like that every day. Harley was pretty excited too but I don't know why. And Echo just sits there because she's getting to the last few months of her life so she's getting tired and plus she's our fatty patty in our the world of rats. We really enjoyed them. At the time I was watching TV and Cali jumped up on me and started moving around quickly. And then Harley came too. It's funny how rats can be such good friends!

My Adventures

I have many adventures like going to Marinland and going to Great Wolf Lodge. But I also have different kinds of adventures like life long adventures and adventures with my friends but not all of them are fun like Marinland and Great Wolf Lodge. The way I see it you have to take the good with the bad. I know that better than anyone. When you have Narcolepsy your life is not as great as others because you have to live a condition that you know will be by your side for the rest of your life acting as your companion.

Can't wait till the Big number

Actually it's not the big number because the Big number is usually 50 yrs old but I'm only turning 11 so it's quite an age difference. But I'm only calling it the Big number because I'm going to finally be a tween, YAY! I've told people what I want for my Birthday and I hope they get me what I want because then I'll be so happy. I asked for Pandora Charms because I have a Pandora bracelet and it doesn't have any charms yet so I need some charms to go on it to make me look prettier. I also hope I get some money too. Any jewelry is fine except for necklaces because I have too many of those.

My Mom's Blog

My mom's blog is all about how to keep rats and what their needs are. Her blog is also about our rats and what adventures they've been through. I admire her blog and how good she is at writing. I love all her posts including the ones about our Rats playing across the Rainbow Bridge which means our rats that have passed away. It's just a sweet way of saying that they have passed away. I think it's pretty sweet.

My mom's blog is actually what encouraged me to make a blog and start writing. Now that I'm almost writing every month I appreciate that my mom encouraged me to make a blog. I know I don't have a lot of followers (maybe 10 at the most) but they all encourage me to keep writing especially my mom. She has helped me through every moment of my life since I was 5 years old. Even before I was 5 years old I knew that she helped me all the way up to the age of 5 without me even having Narcolepsy. I appreciate that Mom, Thanks

The People I love

When I think about the people I love I think about my mom and dad and my sister and brother. Also I think about the pets in my family like Echo and Shae and also newlywed Nova. It's not just Echo and Shae, it's also Harley and Zoey and Molly and Marley and last but not least sweet girl Callie. I care about not just the people in my family but also the pets n my family.

Live While Learn

You would think that Narcoleptic kids would have to be home schooled but in my case I get to go to school like any other kid except that I have an E.A with me almost all the time. An E.A is an educational Assistant. I love having the opportunity of going to school. An Educational Assistant helps you with your issues but for me an Educational Assistant is there to help me if I fall because of my Cataplexy. Most people hate that they have to go to school but for me I am greatful that I had an opportunity to go to school and that's why most of the time I love going to school.

My Family's Support

I appreciate my family's support of me having Narcolepsy and Cataplexy because it's nice to know I'm not alone.

I know that there isn't lots of kids with Narcolepsy so in that case I'm kind of alone.

I have so much support from my family and friends that I don't even feel like I'm alone. I still know that I'm alone in my heart but my family and friends make that fade away quickly because they don't make fun of me and they accept that I have it and will for the rest of my life. Most people don't know what narcolepsy is and what it is like having. 

Wow! It's almost Mother's Day!

It's almost Mother's Day! I'm trying to make this Mother's Day treasuring because my mom is working today and tomorrow sadly. So I'd like to know what you're doing for Mother's Day. I've made a present for my mom but I can't tell you because she might check my newest posts on here and find this post so shhhh.

Is having Narcolepsy worse than other things?

In my opinion it stands above other things but doesn't go at the top of the list. I think being blind is worse than having Narcolepsy because you can't see at all so you really don't know what's out there. Now some people might agree with me but others might not. Or maybe being in a wheelchair is worse than having Narcolepsy, it all depends on the situation. Being a kid with Narcolepsy is really hard but also being an adult is hard too because you have to work almost all the time. Being a kid with Narcolepsy is hard because you maybe only have 1 friend with Narcolepsy. Narcoleptic kids feel lonely because they don't have a friend who is the same as them. Luckily research is being done to find a cure for Narcolepsy, so when another person gets Narcolepsy they will have a cure to make them feel like they don't even have it. I think Cataplexy is more dangerous than Narcolepsy because when I'm having cataplexy I might fall and maybe hurt someone. I will keep holding on until a cure comes across me and the other people out there with Narcolepsy. 

If you want to be a part of trying to find a cure you can and if they do come across a cure you'll know you are partly responsible because you donated money.

Thanks for all your help over the years! It has been partly why we have gotten that far with Narcolepsy because of the money you donated to raise awareness for Narcolepsy.

Rats!

Sometimes people think their so cute and other people are so scared of them because of their tales, they look like snakes if you don't think about the body to some people but not to me. I think rats are Adorable because of their sweetness and patterns on them. Here are some patterns on the rats in my family.

Living My Life

Sometimes living my life is hard and others not at all. Well I'm glad I have some meds to help me stay awake during the day, but deep down in my heart I know I still have Narcolepsy. 

But when me or my mom comes across another child out there with Narcolepsy my life suddenly changes because I know that there aren't many kids out there with Narcolepsy and it brightens up my day. 

Another thing about Narcolepsy is it sometimes comes with Cataplexy which is a symptom of Narcolepsy. That is a little bit hard to deal with but I seam to manage. Having Cataplexy really limits dangerous things, but luckily I don't really do stuff like that.

If any of you out their in the world have Narcolepsy and feel the same way, you can be sure someone else does too. 

When I wake up in the mornings, sometimes I think about if we're going to meet another kid with Narcolepsy and some days I'm totally focussed on what I'm doing. I guess some days are luckier than others.

The Next Step Live!

I went to go see the Next Step live on Friday with my cousins and my sister. It was really fun. First, I went to the old spaghetti factory for dinner. I had chicken fingers and fries for my dinner. Next, we went and got our seats at the Sony Centre and saw the The Next Step Dancers live on stage. Then, after we saw the Next Step Dancers live on stage we went to Fran's for dessert. I had a chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream sundae. It was delicious!

Callie,Molly, and Marley!

My family has 3 new rats and their names are Callie, Molly, and Marley!  Marley looks the same as Harley. They are so cute! The only differences are that Marley is a girl and that Harley is much bigger than Marley. Molly is a Chocolate Berkshire which means that her back is solide chocolate and that she has a little blob of white on her tummy. Molly's little blotch looks like a heart! Callie is a mural rat which means all over her body is blotchy with browny and blacky spots and blotches. Marley is a black hooded rat which means that she has a black hood on her head and that she has black blotches down the middle of her back. So it was Valentine's Day a few days ago!

I had a great Valentine's Day with my family. I hope all of you guys out there had a great Valentine's Day too. I gave a lot of Valentine's out to my calss and they were so cute. What did you do on Valentine's Day because I want to know if what you did was as good as what I did? Just wondering! I quite a few Valentine's from my classmates. I ❤️ Valentine's Day!
